「about you」- behind the song.

hello! time for a new song this sunday! it’s called ”about you”.

meaning

it’s about wanting to get to know someone on a deeper level.

the last part about the book comes from a sentence i read somewhere, it was something about ”life is a book that you write” or ”destiny is a book that you write”. and i thought it could be nice to work with that. i’m not a huge believer of fate or destiny, so i wrote ”wouldn’t really call it fate, but a book we write together”

creative process

so, one can say that this song came to life 5 years ago, in 2017, because that’s when i recorded the audio my phone, but the lyrics and the full song came together 2021. it’s been sitting in my song library for a while now so it was time for the song to be produced.

i recorded the song in two-three occasions and finished it in one full day. my goal is to sit every weekday and produce one hour in the evening.

i had so much fun producing this song! i worked with many sound layers (hence all my layers of clothes in the music video :3). strings, acoustic guitar, steel guitar, strings, ukulele, rythm guitar, etc. i just put it all together and then started to cut off instruments to make the song more dynamic. that's when the magic happens.

it’s an oyster! i feel the meaning behind the song is getting to know someone and the pearl in the oyster represents that part where you get to know the person. it's about who the person truly is behind all those layers. (also here, hence all my layers of clothes in the music video. :3)
